Voters will go to the polls across Essex on Thursday 7 May 2026.
Chelmsford City Council has written to the Government to support this year’s Essex County Council elections going ahead as scheduled.
People who registered to vote by post before 31 October 2023 must now reapply for their postal vote.
The results are in for two by-elections in Chelmsford, after residents went to the polls on 1 May to elect a county and city councillors.
By-elections will take place in Chelmsford this May, following the resignation of Councillor Marie Goldman as a county and city councillor.
Some Chelmsford residents went to the polls on 12 December to vote in by-elections and a referendum.

Marie Goldman for the Liberal Democrats has been elected MP for the Chelmsford constituency in the 2024 parliamentary general election.
