Essex County Council election and Broomfield and The Walthams by-election results

Chelmsford residents voted for their Essex County Councillors on Thursday 7 May 2026. When the polling stations closed at 10pm, the Chelmsford voting division's ballot boxes were delivered to Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre ready for the count to begin overnight.

Following a busy night of counting, the first division, Chelmsford Central, was declared at 3.02am.
