Following a successful debut edition last month, festival organisers have confirmed that State Fayre will return to Hylands Park in Chelmsford in June 2027. Early bird tickets are on sale now at www.statefayre.com.
Major headline acts and impeccable vibes at debut weekend
State Fayre opened its doors for the very first time last month (26-28 June). The new camping festival from Festival Republic and Live Nation welcomed tens of thousands of music fans across three days for a weekend of incredible music performances, fun entertainment, delicious BBQ food and impeccable festival vibes.
Outstanding headline sets across the weekend included the temporarily crowned ‘Kings of Chelmsford’ (better known as Kings of Leon), the legendary Alanis Morissette, and influential titans The Lumineers. More notable moments also came from Stephen Wilson Jr, Skunk Anansie, Counting Crows, The Black Crowes, Sierra Ferrell, and Razorlight, plus many more.
On top of this, the festival celebrated American-inspired cuisine with mouth-watering BBQ food from the very best in the business. The UK’s premier BBQ festival, FUME, hosted The FUME Pit which featured award-winning pitmasters and BBQ vendors from across the UK and beyond.
State Fayre’s inaugural weekend was well received by both music fans and media critics alike. CLASH magazine dubbed it a “superb debut, a fantastic atmosphere and a line-up to remember”, the Metro said it “Challenged everything I thought I knew about big music weekends”, while an attendee called it the “most seamless festival experience ever”.
Reflecting on the event, festival organisers Anna-Sophie Mertens and Alex Simmonds said:
““We wanted to create a festival that delivered good music, good food and good times, bringing together artists from both sides of the Atlantic. From start to finish, it has been truly moving to see festivalgoers embrace everything State Fayre is about – from iconic headliners with catalogues that have soundtracked so many of our lives, the most exciting artists across a multitude of genres, and phenomenal new voices to the very best in BBQ food. What’s made it all the more special is the reaction we have received from everyone who came down. Welcoming, friendly and ready to take in every new experience, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back when State Fayre opens its doors once more in 2027”.
Councillor Stephen Robinson, Leader of Chelmsford City Council, said:
““What a triumphant weekend! State Fayre 2026 was the perfect debut for this new festival for Chelmsford. It has been a pleasure to host more spectacular performances from global artists right on Chelmsford’s doorstep, as well as a simply fantastic crowd of festivalgoers. From the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve seen in this inaugural year, we can see that State Fayre is set to be a much-loved annual festival and we look forward to seeing it deliver another outstanding experience for music fans next year.”
