South Woodham Ferrers residents vote on 5 May

Residents of South Woodham Ferrers will be electing a new member of the town council in May.

The election on Thursday 5 May in the Elmwood ward follows the resignation of a sitting councillor. This is your opportunity to choose who will represent you, so please make sure to take part.

Your town council is responsible for providing and overseeing local services, such as looking after the environment and open spaces, and considering plans for development. Your councillor looks after concerns and issues in your neighbourhood, so it is important to make your voice count.

Polling cards will start to be issued on 28 March, and the list of candidates will be published the following week, on Wednesday 6 April. You can check where your polling station is on the back of your poll card or by searching your address on the council website.

To vote in these elections you have to be registered in your ward. You can check your ward on the map. If you are not registered to vote, you need to register on the GOV.UK website by midnight on Thursday 14 April.

If you voted in the last election and have not moved or changed your details since then, you do not need to register again.

For many people it is more convenient to vote by post, so please remember that the deadline to apply for a postal vote is Tuesday 19 April. You can find more information about your council and elections on the council website.
