The new Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner
This year’s ‘Super Thursday’ voting involved four separate elections in Chelmsford. One of the results being declared today is the new Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner. There is just one seat for the whole of Essex.
Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) make sure that local police meet the needs of the community.
In Essex, the PCC also oversees Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and is called the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.
Results for Chelmsford
- Roger Hirst, The Conservative Party Candidate: 22,660 votes
- Robin Tilbrook, English Democrats – “More Police – Catching Criminals!”: 3,522 votes
- Chris Vince, Labour and Co-operative Party: 6,939 votes
- Jon Whitehouse, Liberal Democrat: 10,261 votes
Turnout for Chelmsford: 33.22%

- Roger Hirst, The Conservative Party Candidate: 235,346 votes
- Robin Tilbrook, English Democrats – “More Police – Catching Criminals!”: 42,831 votes
- Chris Vince, Labour and Co-operative Party: 99,712 votes
- Jon Whitehouse, Liberal Democrat: 58,131 votes
The overall winner is Roger Hirst, The Conservative Party
