Go Ape Chelmsford opens at Hylands Estate
On Saturday 29 July Go Ape’s brand-new Chelmsford location opened at Hylands Estate.
The site was officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Chelmsford, Jude Deakin, and Go Ape superfan, Verity Bailes, who cut the opening ribbon together.
Bringing Go Ape to Essex for the first time
The new course is Go Ape’s 35th location in the UK and the first in Essex. It’s located in the woodlands at the Writtle Entrance side of Hylands Estate, close to the main car park.
Go Ape Chelmsford adventures are designed to challenge and excite thrill-seekers, with activities for everyone from ages 4 to 94. From treetop high-ropes adventures to team building ground-based games, Go Ape activities present fun ways to be more active.
Three thrilling treetop adventures to choose from
The new site includes three high ropes adventures: Treetop Adventure, Treetop Adventure Plus, and Treetop Challenge. They’re all suitable for participants over one metre tall, with varying levels of difficulty.
Go Ape Chelmsford features 100 aerial crossings and eight ziplines across the three treetop adventures. All the courses use a continuous belay system, which is a simple and transfer-free safety system that allows participants to remain attached until they return to the ground.
A common feature on the new course is ‘Fisherman’s Traps’. The wooden towers feature staggered platforms that adventurers must climb up inside of to reach the treetops. The site also features an incredible ‘Tarzan Swing’ with a great drop that the bravest of thrill-seekers must cross as part of the Treetop Challenge experience.
Go Ape Chelmsford Site Manager, Deaglan Flynn, says Chelmsford’s course is aerial focused, offering stunning views of the forest:
““Coming from London, Hylands Park almost seems like the next level up, it’s such a beautiful location. Chelmsford is a very aerial course, with tree-to-tree zips and tricky crossings which customers will love.”
