Free family fun at Chelmsford Market this weekend
Chelmsford Market will host its annual Family Fun Day this Saturday, 25 July, providing free entertainment for local families.
Free family fun to begin the summer holidays
Saturday will be the market’s third annual Family Fun Day in Market Square. The day has been organised by Chelmsford Market’s management team, and all entertainment is funded by Chelmsford City Council and Chelmsford For You.
From 10am to 4pm, entertainment will include favourites from previous years with face painting, a soft play area, a teacups ride, balloon modelling, a petting zoo, and interactive appearances from Essex Cosplayers and Chelmsford City Sports’ mascot, Pops the Penguin. A new addition to the entertainment line-up this year is the chance to meet emergency service workers and even explore a fire engine!
This year’s Family Fun Day will see the return of Animal Workshops Mobile Zoo, Essex Cosplayers, and a teacups ride to Market Square.
Councillor Simon Goldman, Cabinet Deputy for Cleaner Communities, says events like these are a great example of the market’s impact on the community:
““Knowing the six-weeks holidays can be a stressful and expensive time for many, the Chelmsford Market team have organised a fantastic day of free activities to help out local families. The event has been very well attended in previous years and hopefully this Saturday will lead even more people to discover the charm of our indoor market! We’re lucky to have a market with so much history in the heart of our city.
Cllr Simon Goldman, Cabinet Deputy for Cleaner Communities
“I want to thank the Chelmsford Market team for all their hard work and thank the entertainers who are taking part in the day. Thanks go also to Chelmsford For You, for their help in sponsoring the event.”
Get to know your local market
The market will be open as usual, so guests can explore all that its wonderful independent traders have to offer. From British-grown fruit and veg and locally grown plants, to global cuisines and groceries, and from hand-made trinkets to hand-me-down treasures. You can explore Chelmsford’s award-winning Market every week, from Tuesday to Saturday.
