Owners of small and medium-sized businesses across all sectors in Chelmsford can now apply for a grant of up to £5,000 to make their business Covid-19 secure. This money can be used in different ways, including to buy new equipment, support employees to work from home or to adapt premises.

Essex County Council has given Chelmsford City Council an additional £633,954 for businesses who have spent money, or intend to spend money, to adapt their business to help with ongoing coronavirus conditions.

Business owners must show that they will use the money to make changes that will protect the health and safety of employees and customers. Any businesses that have received a grant from the scheme in the past can apply again, provided they have not received a grant within the last two months.

Proof of any quotations for work or expenditure after 1st June 2021 will need to be provided and the fund runs until 31st December 2021.

How to apply

Chelmsford City Council will give the grant funding to eligible Chelmsford businesses. Business owners should contact the City Council to check the eligibility criteria and apply for the scheme.
