£1.8 million pledged to business support scheme

Chelmsford companies will get support from a major business and skills programme in the coming months.

Seven local authorities have joined together help businesses recover from the impacts of Covid-19. The partnership, which includes Chelmsford City Council, covers North and Mid Essex and £1.8 million has already been pledged.

Support is based on feedback from businesses

The scheme aims to help businesses by directing support where firms say they need it most and the programme is being designed using feedback from business surveys carried out in the second half of 2020. This money will provide businesses with the much needed support that is required as we emerge from nationally-imposed restrictions.

• Colchester Borough Council
• Essex County Council
• Maldon District Council
• Tendring District Council
• Uttlesford District Council

Other help is still available

This programme isn’t the only way businesses can get help. A year into the pandemic, Chelmsford City Council has now distributed £52 million in government grants to local businesses. Help is still available for eligible businesses and the council is urging local firms to keep in touch.

Alongside grants, Best Growth Hub, Colbea and Back to Business Essex are also on hand to help. These organisations are providing Essex businesses with a range of services, including 12 hours of fully-funded advice.
