The Chelmsford Marathon will return for its eighth year on Sunday 16 October in aid of Havens Hospices. The event will raise vital funds for the Essex-wide charity that provides palliative nursing and supportive care to children and adults with complex or incurable conditions.
Runners will start at Shire Hall at the top of Chelmsford’s High Street and make their way through the surrounding countryside and pretty villages of Essex and then across the finish line in Central Park. A half marathon option will be available for those wanting a shorter route which will start and finish in the same location as the full marathon.
Every mile will really make a difference for every child, young person, adult, and family that Havens Hospices care for across Essex.
This year’s event is organised by the race management company Nice Work and is sponsored by Beaulieu, the city’s vibrant new neighbourhood.
“We are really looking forward to the Chelmsford Marathon so we can raise vital funds for our hospice care across Essex. We must raise more than £85,000 each week to be there for everyone who needs us.
“This is one of the biggest events in the Essex race calendar and we hope to attract more than a thousand runners lining up in Chelmsford High Street to either achieve their first half or full marathon, personal best, or run in memory of a loved one. For those who may have missed out on a place at this year’s London Marathon, this might be the perfect alternative for you.
