Summer Series music sessions launched at Hylands

A series of intimate gigs will take place at Hylands Estate this summer. The Stables Summer Series will bring an exciting mix of artists to the estate’s Georgian stable block for exclusive evening sets for the very first time.

The series is a collaboration with Hot Box Live Events, a critically acclaimed Chelmsford music venue with an impressive line-up. Ex-Oasis guitarist Andy Bell, Indo-British poet and world music performer Shephali Frost, and rising stars Black Pines are just some of the acts booked to perform.

Evening sets in The Stables courtyard

Music sets will take place in The Stables courtyard with doors opening at 6pm. The Hot Box Live bar will be serving beer from local breweries and spirits from around the world, and each event will have a selection of festival food. Some of the Hylands artist studios will also be open before the music starts.

The Stables have been developing their reputation as an arts destination over the last few years and this isn’t their first partnership with Hot Box. The venue has been presenting live music from local acts during Open Estate Days which take place on the third Sunday of every month.

Edward Price, the estate’s assistant manager for business innovation says the partnership is a perfect fit for The Stables.

The Stables, which is an emerging arts venue, is a great place for atmospheric small gigs and we’ve loved working with Hot Box to bring talented musicians to perform to visitors on Open Estate Days.

Exciting Summer Series line-up

The Summer Series line-up features an eclectic mix of music from alternative rock and jazz to electronic music and folk. The season starts on Friday 20 May with Shephali Frost, a classically trained poet and musician specialising in the fusion of ancient Indian music with contemporary Jazz.

She’s followed on the 21 May by cult folk artist Beans on Toast, a Glastonbury regular since 2005. In June, Ride and ex-Oasis guitarist Andy Bell performs a unique instrumental gig playing electric guitar over reworked versions of backing tracks from his various musical worlds.

Jon Hughes of Hot Box says the series is an excellent opportunity to discover new music.

Tickets are on sale now

Tickets to the Summer Series are now on sale, with prices ranging from £13.50 to £16.50. Each event runs until 11pm and parking is free at the estate after 6pm.
