South Woodham’s newly revamped gym now open

The gym at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre has been newly refurbished to create a modern and fresh environment for its members.

The upgrade aims to encourage more people to use the facilities in the local area, and to allow current users to try new equipment and exercises.

The centre

South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre is in the heart of South Woodham’s town. The centre is shared with William De Ferrers School in term time and plays a key role in the community. Their biggest asset is the swimming pool, but there’s an excellent sports hall and floodlit 3G outdoor pitch on site too.

What’s new in the gym?

The refurbishment in the gym has completely transformed the space and there’s a fantastic new range of resistance, cardio, and strength equipment available. There’s everything from a special training rig which offers space for a variety of different pieces of training equipment, to new cardiovascular machines which include a skiing machine and rower.

"Encouraging and inspiring people to take up regular exercise contributes to their health and wellbeing, and everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy, active life. I am delighted to see this great new facility for the local community in South Woodham Ferrers; a welcoming space with user-friendly equipment that caters for all ages and abilities."

Cllr Ann Davidson, Cabinet Deputy for Healthy Living

Come along and try

On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September, the leisure centre will be holding an open weekend for anyone keen to try out the new gym for free. There will be a chance to have a look around and get a feel for what’s new, and perhaps consider signing up to the month’s free trial that’s currently on offer (terms and conditions apply). There’s no need to book a slot, just pop by on one of the days and get involved.

"We’ve worked hard with William de Ferrers School to bring in some great new pieces of equipment that offer loads of new exercises for our members. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers to come and try everything out. Sharing this with the local community will make it all worthwhile for us and we can’t wait to hear everyone’s feedback after the open days."
