Learn to live well at Chelmsford’s Healthy Living Festival
Chelmsford CVS and Writtle University College are hosting a Healthy Living Festival on Saturday 7 October. The community event will bring together local charities to share information on healthy living, while providing activities and opportunities for local people of all ages.
Held at Writtle University College, the idyllic countryside estate provides the perfect back drop for this fun-filled, educational, and relaxing event. The festival will run from 10am to 3pm and entry is completely free!
Activities for the mind, body and soul
The festival will have something for everyone, with delicious food, live music, and the chance to play sports and games and get involved in arts and crafts.
Talks and demonstrations will take place throughout the day, from ‘Healthy Coping Bingo’ to tips on boosting your wellbeing through nature and animals.
If you’re a fan of sports, you can join in with a game of basketball. If group games aren’t your thing, you can have a go at hula hooping – why not time yourself and try to reach a new personal best?
Plus, there will be hourly tours of a specialist animal centre joining the festival. Meet capybaras, emus, alpacas, and more! Great for children and adults alike – because who doesn’t feel better after making a new furry friend?
Get creative and feel close to nature
Arts and crafts will also be on offer on the day, and you’re invited to have a go at making whatever you fancy, at your own pace. Whether you’re doodling or learning to create seed-bombs, let your surroundings inspire you to unleash your creative side!
Discover plants known to help create a soothing environment, while freely exploring the grounds and gardens surrounding the festival.
In-keeping with the theme of the event, there will be lots of talks and demonstrations throughout the day on all things health. Learn how to improve your wellbeing in a fun and interactive way, with bingo games and plant discovery sessions.
Delicious food and live music throughout the day
Lots of fresh food will be available during the day to keep you going, including healthy (but still delicious) pizza options! Whilst you fuel-up, you can listen to live music and watch on as the games unfold.
Councillor Natacha Dudley says having so many wonderful contributors means there really will be something for everyone:
“This is set to be a fantastic event, with local services and charities coming together to engage with the public and encourage us all to make choices that benefit our health and wellbeing.
Councillor Natacha Dudley, Cabinet Member for an Active Chelmsford

“Chelmsford is very lucky to have such a community-minded, outward-looking institution like Writtle University College on our doorstep. “This festival is about encouraging people to realise that good health and wellbeing comes in many different, exciting forms, and we hope that this can help to open doors, and remove barriers for local people to be able live well.”
