Blood Brothers to return to Chelmsford in 2026
The multi-award-winning West End production, Blood Brothers, is set to return to Chelmsford Theatre next year, three years after first showing to sellout audiences in 2023.
The theatre will host Blood Brothers from Tuesday 29 September to Saturday 3 October 2026 as part of the production’s latest UK tour. Tickets are on sale for members now, with general sale launching at 10am this Thursday 6 November.
The emotional Blood Brothers story
Produced by Bill Kenwright Ltd, Blood Brothers is one of the most successful productions in West End history. Across 45 years it has played more than 10,000 performances on London’s West End, gone on several UK tours, and won multiple theatre awards.
Written by award-winning playwright, Willy Russell, it tells the heart-breaking story of Mickey and Eddie. Twins separated at birth, they grow up on opposite sides of the tracks and are brought together again through an unlikely friendship. The two brothers are forever intertwined and must navigate social divisions and an unexpected love triangle that leads to fateful consequences.
First run sold out ahead of opening
Blood Brothers’ first appearance in Chelmsford in August 2023 caused a stir with local theatre lovers. Now, Chelmsford residents will see one of the greatest British musicals of all time return to the city again next year for another week-long run.
But those who didn’t manage to book tickets last time had better act quickly. The week-long run in 2023 fully sold out ahead of opening, welcoming 4,000 fans across eight performances.
This second run is expected to be just as popular among those who missed out in 2023 and with die-hard fans who are ready to experience this acclaimed musical again.
Chelmsford Theatre Director, Rhys Thomas, says the return of Blood Brothers reflects a healthy appetite for West End shows to keep coming to Chelmsford:
““We are really honoured to be welcoming back the late, great Bill Kenwright’s world-famous production to Chelmsford Theatre. Blood Brothers is a particularly special show – so adored by fans the world over that they return to see it again and again. Over nearly 50 years, it has moved generations of audiences through its raw and emotional storyline.
Rhys Thomas, Chelmsford Theatre Director
“I know that last time many who might have wanted to see Blood Brothers in Chelmsford didn’t get the chance to secure tickets, so I’m excited for our audiences to get another opportunity to see one of the most celebrated theatre shows in West End history next year. I recommend booking soon so as not to miss out.”
