A wickedly magical adventure is coming to Riverside this April
Riverside Leisure Centre’s family favourite, the annual Easter ice show returns to the rink this April, with performances from Wednesday 8 to Sunday 12 April. This year, Chelmsford Riverside Ice Skating Club presents The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Riverside has been hosting ice shows since 1992 and this will be the 31st production at the centre.
A Wicked-ly magical adventure on Ice
Step into the magical world of Oz and watch your favourite characters from The Wizard of Oz and Wicked come to life as you’ve never seen them before – gliding across the ice!
In this family-friendly performance we follow Dorothy and her unforgettable friends on a journey to the Emerald City. Friendships are tested and unexpected heroes rise, all in a swirl of skilful skating and captivating costumes.
Perfect for all ages, the show offers a relaxed atmosphere. Audience members are invited to laugh, cheer, and sing along – so be sure to warm up your singing voices before taking your seats around the ice.
Please note, the performance includes flashing lights, strobe effects, loud sounds, and pyrotechnics, adding extra sparkle to the show.
Inspiring cast of amateur skaters
The entire cast are members of Chelmsford Riverside Ice Skating Club and skaters of all levels, from beginners to national competitors, will take part in the show.
This year’s cast is led by three British Championships competitors: Elizabeth Dohnal, as Dorothy; Paige Lepley, as the Wicked Witch; and Paige Devaney, as Glinda.
Ice show faithfuls may also recognise Tin Man, played by Rose Mellon, making her sixth show appearance and her fourth as a main cast member.
While many cast members are returning, some newer members of Chelmsford Riverside Ice Skating Club will be performing for the very first time.
Councillor Natacha Dudley, Cabinet Member for an Active Chelmsford, says the show should be on every family’s calendar:
