Ice show returns to Riverside

Beauty And The Beast On Ice

Riverside Leisure Centre’s popular ice show returns to the rink this Easter with a glittering version of Beauty and the Beast. A cast of more than 50 skaters from Chelmsford Riverside Ice Skating Club will bring their magical production to the city for the first time since 2018.

Show postponed during pandemic

Beauty and the Beast had been scheduled to run back in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic led to a series of postponements. With restrictions now eased, the annual ice show makes its comeback this April, with 8 performances across 5 days.

Sarah Smith, the manager of Chelmsford City Council’s leisure centres says it’s great to have this joyful skating showcase back at Riverside.

“We have really missed the ice show. It’s brilliant fun for families and a key opportunity for talented local performers to put on a complex production at the rink. We are really pleased that Beauty and the Beast will finally make it to Riverside after a tough couple of years for our skaters and we can’t wait to see the club in action again.”

Classic family show on ice

As ever, this classic fairy tale on ice will entertain the whole family, with colourful costumes, catchy songs and dazzling dance sequences. Show directors and choreographers Chloe Gribble and Katie Dimond say rehearsals are going well.

“The young people who skate with us can’t wait to perform to a live audience again after coming so close two years ago. The ice show is a highlight in our club calendar, and it gives us an opportunity to show the city what we can do. We hope our performances might even inspire a new generation of skaters to join us after they’ve been to one of our shows.”
