Covid-safe Play in the Park as popular as ever

Easter brought a sense of new life in Chelmsford this year, as children rushed at the chance to join in with play activities outdoors after the lockdown.

395 youngsters came along to 14 two-hour Play in the Park sessions over the school holidays. The free activities were fully staffed and included hopper races, art and crafts, a mobile zoo, skateboarding lessons, games and sports.

Play in the Park has been running for many years and is almost always fully booked. This year was no different, with every session quickly filling up.

“Outdoor activities were allowed just in time for Play in the Park and it was so great to see the kids enjoying themselves in their local parks. We were anxious to make sure everything was Covid-safe, so there was social distancing, hand-cleansing and frequent cleaning of the equipment, but without affecting the enjoyment of simply being outdoors and playing.”

One parent said, “It felt so good to be enjoying a bit of normality in South Woodham Ferrers. My son thoroughly enjoyed his couple of hours. The staff were amazing, very engaging and interactive with the kids.”

Another commented, “We loved how there were activities for my baby and pre-schooler.”
