This year’s Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place on Sunday 12 November from 10.55am at the Duke Street War Memorial.
The Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Linda Mascot, will join veterans and members of the public to pay respect those currently serving in the Armed Forces, as well as those who gave their lives for our country in historic conflicts.
The service will be conducted by The Very Rev’d Paul Kennington, Interim Dean of Chelmsford and members of the Chelmsford inter-faith community.
A two-minute silence, marked by the firing of the maroons, will be observed at 11am on both Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November.
Following this, wreaths will be laid at the Duke Street War Memorial on 12 November by the Mayor, Armed Forces representatives and Chelmsford community groups. If your organisation would like to lay a wreath, please email your request to email@example.com.
Following the service, the Parade will commence, proceeding along Rainsford Road before returning to march past the War Memorial, where the Mayor will take the salute.
The Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Linda Mascot, invites residents to join her in honouring the sacrifices made by service personnel and their families:
“This year we once again mark Remembrance Day in Chelmsford with our traditional service and parade. We remember those who have sacrificed their lives in war and those who continue to serve our country today. From the very small to the exceptional, the sacrifices made by service personnel and their families are felt each and every day of their lives. By supporting this year’s Poppy Appeal, we acknowledge and honour these acts of sacrifice and thank those who have served our country. I encourage Chelmsford’s residents to wear your now plastic-free poppies with pride and join us for Remembrance Sunday 2023.”Councillor Linda Mascot, Mayor of Chelmsford
Please note that parts of Duke Street will be closed from 10am on Sunday 12 November. Access to Fairfield Road Car Park from Coval Lane will still be available.
A shelter will be available at the service for elderly and disabled ex-service men and women.
