The deadline to apply for the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) has been extended to 21 March 2022.
On top of that, the eligibility criteria have also been expanded to include large companies and sectors such as gyms, dance and exercise classes, sports clubs, and parent and child groups where education or training is not the main purpose.
Large businesses could be awarded up to £4,000, subject to sufficient proof of business-related expenditures.
Eligibility
Your business could be eligible for this grant if it is:
- a charity but not a charity shop, or
- part of the supply chain to hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors, or
- a personal care business, or
- an events business, or
- a gym, exercise class, dance class or sports club, or
- a parent and child group where education or training is not the main purpose
However, you must show proof that your business has been severely affected by the Omicron variant.

If your business is eligible, you will be awarded up to:
£4,000 – if you pay business rates and are a large business
£2,000 – if you pay business rates
£1,000 – If you don’t have to pay business rates, but do pay a commercial rent or lease to occupy your property. Also applies to hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses that don’t have a business rate liability.
£500 – if you don’t have to pay business rates or commercial rent or lease
