Applications for the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) are now open to Chelmsford businesses.

This grant is aimed at certain businesses which have been severely affected by the Omicron variant.

However, funding is extremely limited and the application process will be open for only 2 weeks from 10 February to midnight, 24 February.

Additional Restrictions Grants now open for application

Eligibility

You are eligible for this grant if your business falls under one of these categories:

  • a charity but not a charity shop
  • part of the supply chain to hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors
  • a personal care business
  • an events business
  • a hospitality, leisure or accommodation business that does not pay business rates directly to Chelmsford City Council

The offer

If you are eligible, you will be awarded up to:

£2,000 – If you pay business rates

£1,000 – If you don’t have to pay business rates, but do pay a commercial rent or lease to occupy your property. Also applies to hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses that don’t have a business rate liability.

£500 – If you don’t have to pay business rates or commercial rent/lease

At the end of the application period, the amount of payments will be compared to the funding available. As a result, the published grant value may have to be reduced, so that all successful applicants will receive something.

How to apply

You can get more information on the full criteria of the grant and how to apply on the Chelmsford City Council website.
