Businesses in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors can now apply for a one-off grant of up to £6,000.
This is part of the £1 billion business support package announced by the government last December. Named the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant, it will offer vital support for local businesses impacted by the Omicron variant.

However, the grant is only available to businesses who were liable to pay business rates to Chelmsford City Council on 30th December 2021.
The aim of the grant is to support businesses:
- that offer in-person services
- where the main service and activity takes place in a fixed rate-paying premises
- in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors
The amount of grant awarded is based on the rateable value of your premises (known as “hereditaments”).

£15,000 and under | £2,667 |
£15,000 and less than £51,000 | £4,000 |
£51,000 or over | £6,000 |
