The Business Adaptations Grant (BAG) of up to £5,000 from Essex County Council’s BAG Scheme will close to new applications on Monday 20 December 2021.

The scheme has helped more than 300 small and medium businesses across all sectors in Chelmsford. Chelmsford City Council has already paid out over £730,000 to these businesses – supporting them to adapt their business to the ongoing Covid-19 challenges.

The County Hotel in Chelmsford for example, purchased an Air Purifier Miele PAC 1200 with a grant. James Sharp, General Manager explains, “The filter removes at least 99.995% of all suspended matter, viruses, bacteria and mould fungi.  Having this meant adding an extra layer of safety to our guests and our team. We are delighted to be the first in the UK to have this machine that complements the rest of our COVID measures”.

Digital Agents utilised their grant to purchase hardware for home use. Greg Allman, Digital Director says, “The grant has enabled staff to work from home when designing and building websites for our clients. We are excited to see our business and our clients’ businesses continue to grow in 2022!”

Businesses that have received a grant from the scheme in the past can apply again, provided they have not received a grant within the last two months.
