Pop-up covid vaccine centre at Chelmsford City Racecourse

More pre-bookable and some walk-in covid vaccine appointment slots are being made available at Chelmsford City Racecourse (CM3 1QP) over the weekend of 18 to 19 December.

Slots are available 9am to 6pm both days.

If you’re yet to have a jab, need to have the next one, or you’re ready for a booster, act now.

Who can have which jab?

The first dose is for everyone aged 12 years and over.

The second dose is for everyone aged 16 years and over. If you’re 16 or 17, you can have your second dose twelve weeks after your first dose. If you’re 18 years or over, you can have your second dose eight weeks after your first dose.

Some people are eligible for a third primary dose. This is different to a booster and if you’re eligible, you’ll know. You will have received a letter from a doctor, which you’ll need to bring along to your appointment. If you’re eligible for one, you’ll need to have your third dose before your booster.

Booster doses are now available for anyone aged 40 years or over. You can have a booster from twelve weeks after your second dose. You don’t need a letter from a doctor for that.

How do I book?

You can pre-book your appointment at Chelmsford City Racecourse on Eventbrite.

A number of walk-in appointments are also available on 18 and 19 December. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis. To avoid waiting, it’s best to pre-book.

Find out more about eligibility and other places to get your jab on the Essex Covid Vaccine website.
