Chelmsford residents pay respects to fallen heroes

Chelmsford’s Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade 2021 was held last Sunday, 14 November on Duke Street.

The service was attended by The Mayor of Chelmsford, members of the Royal British Legion, representatives from emergency services, cadets, youth organisations, and members of the public.

The Very Reverend Nicholas Henshall, Dean of Chelmsford lead the services – with the singing of hymns by the Chelmsford Cathedral Choir and readings by members of the Chelmsford inter-faith community.

At 11am, a two-minute silence was observed to commemorate all those who continue to serve the country’s Armed Forces, as well as those that were lost in various conflicts.

Poppy wreaths were laid by the Mayor of Chelmsford, accompanied by Colonel (Retd)Thomas TD DL from The Royal Anglian Regiment.

Following the service, the Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Jude Deakin took salute as the parade marched past the Chelmsford War Memorial. She said, “My thanks to the Armed Forces, Veteran’s, Cadets, Police, Salvation Army Band, RBL, Cathedral Choir, Clergy, readers from the Muslim, Jewish and Hindu communities and many others who took part in the Chelmsford Remembrance Day Service this morning. We will remember them."
