Keeping Chelmsford clean, safe and vibrant requires a community effort.
On 18 September 2021, the City Council, local businesses, community organisations and an army of volunteers united for a giant effort to help improve local environments. The City Centre, local parishes and surrounding villages and towns in the borough of Chelmsford worked in sync for the Love Your Chelmsford Big Clean-Up 2021.
The video below shows how they got on and what activities took place both on and around the day…
The Love Your Chelmsford team were extremely grateful so many wonderful volunteers turned up to help out. Younger generations also got involved and will hopefully inspire their peers as they grow up to respect the environment around them.
Litter picking stations were set up in nearly 30 locations around the city and surrounding villages. From here, volunteers could borrow free litter picking equipment and collect goody bags to thank them for their hard work. One of the rewards included seed bombs. We hope to see wild flowers blooming wherever you choose to plant the seed bombs!
Other activities carried out by Love Your Chelmsford on the day to improve the borough included; deep cleaning the high street, removing graffiti, installing more recycle on the go bins and mature tree planting. Local councillors also got involved in tidying up the Marconi Ponds Nature Reserve.
