Free lunch and talks for older people

Group Of Older People Laughing And Talking Together Outdoors

Are you – or do you know – an older person who fancies a day out to meet new people? Come along to the Silver Sunday Celebration on Monday 4 October.

Older residents of Chelmsford and Maldon are invited to an event at Maldon Stadium, 10am to 4pm. There’ll be a free lunch and refreshments with entertainment, plus some talks on safety, health and wellbeing (don’t worry – they’ll be interesting!). Most importantly, it will be a chance to meet some new people and celebrate everything that older people do for our communities.

Loneliness can strike at any age – but older people are at greater risk. According to Age UK, more than a million older people say they go over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member. If that’s you, please come along.

If you know somebody who might like to come, but who doesn’t have access to the internet, please pass this information on.

There are 150 spaces. To find out more or come along, please email Claire at community.safety@chelmsford.gov.uk or call 01245 606662.

This event takes place on the Monday after Silver Sunday, which is a national celebration of older people. Find out more about what’s happening across the country at https://silversunday.org.uk
