Free holiday clubs are running this half term for children eligible for benefits-based free school meals and any working families who need additional support.

ActivAte clubs are being launched across Essex and Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre and South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre are both taking part.

Clubs to run for four days

These Essex ActivAte clubs are part of the Holiday Activity and Food programme run by Active Essex in partnership with Essex County Council. The clubs at CSAC and South Woodham Ferrers will run for four days from 1-4 June between 10am and 2pm. Leisure centre staff say children taking part will have lots of fun.

New activities each day

Different activities are planned to cater for a wide range of interests and abilities, with plenty of exercise, crafts, and games. A typical day might start with an activity to break the ice, then a spot of yoga, followed by some dodgeball to work up an appetite for a nutritious lunch.

If you live in Melbourne or South Woodham, these clubs could be particularly handy, but you won’t miss out if you live further afield.

The sessions are open to anyone who is eligible and there are lots of other locations where Essex ActivAte is taking place too. Go to the Active Essex website for all the details, along with how to book.
