Chelmsford festivals to return in 2022

Chelmsford City Council’s popular festivals – Fling and 3foot People – will not take place in 2021 but will return with style in summer 2022.

Coronavirus restrictions and city events

Since Government announced the “roadmap” to ease coronavirus lockdown restrictions, the council has been busy looking at how and when it will be able to bring the festivals back. Both festivals are usually held in early summer. As the date is near to when restrictions are due to relax, there is a risk both events remain affected this year.

The future of Fling

The council held a public consultation last year to help shape the future of Fling Festival. They will release the results soon. When Fling returns, recommendations from the consultation will be taken on board.

“We want the festivals to be happy, fun and safe events when they do return. Which is why it’s important to prioritise our efforts in other ways this year. Both festivals bring something really special to the local festival scene. Having the extra time to plan them will ensure they are even better and more enjoyable for festivalgoers next year.”
